Leké, in his early 20s, is a youth worker and worshipper in the UK and has already gained considerable experience singing, rapping and appearing in music videos with Writeway-Music. "Rodeo", his debut single, more than showcases his talents, alongside some seriously clever musical production. A flowing piano line opens the track and is immediately intriguing. Soothing strings, booming bass and pert percussion all join in, then from the memorable first vocal phrase, the listener is caught up in the compelling journey painted by the song. It's of a young guy finding his way into faith and new hope, through the ups and downs of life, to discover the One who never leaves. The music expertly follows the highs and lows conveyed by the singer's emotional delivery, with interesting sound combinations and textures. Nothing odd, but it's actually exciting to hear something that sounds new in some way. Fresh. When the 220 seconds of the single is up, you'll be left wanting a whole album from this guy.
