This is the third album released by the New Orleans-born hitmaker whose name means "to bring forth". Indeed Ledisi brings forth an album full of 16 "grown-up" R&B tracks. Although this Grammy-nominated artist is a committed Christian, 'Lost & Found' has no specific songs of faith. However, this set shows off her tremendous vocal range and style, which on various songs echoes the diverse influences of such divas as Ella Fitzgerald and Chaka Khan. Each song is as smooth as the next but highlights are "You & Me", "Upside Down", "I Tried" and "Someday". This 2007 album is a fusion of contemporary R&B, neo soul and jazz at its best and if you missed it at its time of release is well worth searching out. And here's hoping that a Ledisi gospel set comes before too long.
