I always admire artists who have enough nerve to record an album after urgings from family and friends. Hailing from idyllic Cumbria, Laura Boustead has written all the songs on her debut album and sings them here with simple piano accompaniments. Where many churches have stuck with their Victorian organs, some traditional chapels have moved forward to use digital pianos. This is however still a long way from contemporary rock worship. The video available on Laura's website shows winter views of idyllic countryside with Laura singing in a traditional chapel. What is clear is that the church that Laura's style has derived can be proud. All the songs are gentle contemplations on God and life that aren't quite congregational worship but do inspire reflections on the Godhead. Although the lyrics generally touch upon tears and difficulties, the theme is overwhelmingly positive and loving with lines like, "In you lies hope, in you I find my strength," and, "I'll join with the angels for you are everything to me."
