I had the pleasure of seeing Larry Gatlin live in concert at Wembley over 20 years ago and have noted the ups and downs of his life and career ever since, therefore I was very much looking forward to this DVD, released in Germany in 2004 and recorded live at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. But sadly I have to say that I am disappointed with it. Larry and his brothers Steve and Rudy are in exceptionally fine voice and many of his old hits, such as "Broken Lady", "All The Gold In California" and "Love Is Just A Game" sound as good as ever. However there is too much talking, and I did not care for the jokes involving different Christian denominations. There are two gospel songs; "Help Me" which Elvis recorded and "Swing Down Chariot", but even these could not make me comfortable with the general patriotic stance of this concert. If you are an avid fan of this fine singer, no doubt you will enjoy this DVD. But I'm afraid I would find it difficult to watch a number of times.
