Larry Craig hails originally from Toledo in the Mid West States where he grew up on a musical diet of Motown and black gospel. Already a seasoned club singer and church choir member whilst still in his teens, he moved over to the Motor City of Detroit after leaving the Navy. As a member of a local contemporary gospel group Larry rubbed shoulders with many great artists including members of the illustrious Hawkins and Winans families. With this album of largely self-penned songs he has taken the brave step of branching out as a solo artist. He is even bolder in asserting that these are more than just songs as they contain "God's words put to music." That puts this reviewer in a rather difficult position, as I would hardly wish to disagree with the Boss. Happily, no clash is necessary, as I have found this to be an exceedingly pleasant album on a par with those of many of my favourite black Christian artists such as Andrae Crouch and the aforementioned Winans. All the songs are highly accessible and easy on the ear - though far from the cutting edge music of many of the new generation. But, if you're looking for music that simply encourages you in your walk with the Lord then check out this delightful recording.
