'My Destiny' is the second album from a singer based in Lansing, Michigan. The lady's soulful voice shines at its best on "My Destiny", a self-penned, jazz-flavoured song and the project's first single. The artist has been singing since she was eight years old and "Stand" demonstrates LaNette's strong spiritual upbringing in the church with its powerful message to keep going. "Where Are My Worshippers" is an intense ballad with LaNette pulling some impressive high notes out of the bag. "Stay Close To Me" is another standout with a vocal of assured confidence demonstrating why she has shared the stage with gospel greats such as Dorinda Clark Cole and Donnie McClurkin. LaNette says "My musical influence has a jazzy, soulful orientation with a purpose to lead people out of themselves and into the presence of the Lord". She achieves this in part though there are some mediocre songs here interspersed with the good ones and too often the production values fall into cliched territory.
