On The Attack Records have a growing roster of upcoming hardcore acts including Los Angeles-based LIV. From the opening sculpted bass run it is clear that this four piece outfit have the credentials to produce no compromise, high energy hardcore. Guitars scratch and pulse with a solid rhythm section and vocals are on the edge of complete shredding. The tracks move rapidly from one assault to another with the layered vocals in "'Til Next Time" and the gang shouts of "roots" adding some variety in what could become a series of similar sounding cuts. This is the one problem I had with the recording that I am sure will be worked on in future. The tracks did seem of one pace and sound. It was not until you reached the title track on the second half of the album and the edgy "The New Liberation" that this talented bunch seemed to find their feet and produced the best two recordings in the collection. Once again, bass features high in the mix and adds to the old school hardcore sound that will evoke memories of the '90s. For anyone looking for a nostalgic reminder of the likes of "7 Seconds", LIV deliver these nine tracks with passion and a clear, honest message.
