Kim is an American sax player with a previous release 'Evening Praise' out here. The idea of jazz-tinged renditions of well known carols is somewhat formulaic and unfortunately the playing, though adequate in terms of technique, is bogged down in lugubrious arrangements. In fact, the effect is often so laid back - take the deadly version of "Silent Night" - that this album would have been better marketed as an aid to insomniacs than in the tacky Christmas card packaging devised by our friends at Kingsway.
