Seeing that Aaron Sands had laid down some of the bass lines for 'Crazy Praize', I wondered whether he'd perhaps fallen on hard times after his stints with Jars Of Clay and Rebecca St James, or whether this might actually be a sign of a top class children's worship collection. Certainly the musicianship is of a high standard, with some impressive grooves from Aaron and his bass playing counterparts (on "Ain't Nobody" and "My Brother, My Friend" for instance), and they put quite an effective new slant on "I Have Decided". BUT, as is so often the case, the annoyance factor for adults is pretty high too - whether in the repetitive pointlessness of "Alice The Camel", or from speculating who "Eileen" (sic) is in the chorus of "Whose Side Are You Leaning On?". Still, you'd probably be disappointed if an album subtitled 'Songs From The Lighter Side' didn't come across as at least a tad silly. More worryingly though - this is only Volume 1.
