We all face trials, but this artist has faced death and come through a survivor. After Georgia, USA-based Kevin Neal's oesophagus was severed the possibility of him singing again was almost void. Neal remarkably recovered although his vocals were effected. Having said that, I'm pleased to report the damage is hardly discernable on this record. Kevin is joined by a soulful gospel choir and background vocals, which helps add strength to his voice and the jazz-tinged songs. Neal combines his gifts of preaching and singing on most of the tracks to give the listener a variation of delivery. The final track "The Spirit Of The Lord" is a smooth ballad that shows Neal's heart. On the downside some of the lyrics are repetitive and production is only average. But if you're looking for jazz-tinged gospel 'Fresh Anointing' might be worth locating.
