The only reference point which sprang to mind, on first hearing this album, was Daniel O’Donnell. However, Ken Discorfano’s songs and delivery suggest influences wider than gentle country. I detected shades of Frankie Laine in the dramatic “Shalom Alleluia” and a ‘50’s teen idol influence in “No One Shall Ever Undo” Although the musicianship is of a reasonable standard, the whole album has a very synthed feel to it resulting in an overall blandness. Ken’s sincerity shines throughout all of this and I suspect that his material works very well in a live context. If I were to suggest something positive to Ken, It would be to go for a more guitar-based country style. Even after several plays, I couldn’t lose the Daniel O’Donnell connection. Perhaps Ken should offer some of his songs to Daniel, most notably “Jesus Loves You More” and the title track “Do You Believe?” On the whole, too easy for my tastes, but if you like Daniel, you’ll probably enjoy this too!
