All those about to rock, we salute you, Ken Tamplin! I really, really like this CD. There’s nothing like a weekend of Whitesnake, Magnum, Bad Company and Garry Moore to put me in the mood for a bit of heavy rock from a long-haired axeman, and this is seriously classy stuff – riffs that any metal guitarist would be proud of; very slick production; melodic and musically-crafted, adult-oriented rock songs, without the red-blooded angst of a lot of heavy rock; and a fantastic voice, complete with Gillan-esque screams. Watch out David Coverdale! Wow! Alan Freeman and Tommy Vance would have found this very respectable indeed in those (much-mourned) days of the Friday Rock Show, and I predict some of my next pay cheque will be going on Tamplin’s and Shout’s back catalogue. Play it to any of your friends who think Christian music can’t really hack it and I reckon you’ll convert them instantly. And there’s nothing like getting two CDs for the price of one, is there ?
