'Bananas' is Christian comedy TV series that airs mostly in the US on cable and satellite, styling itself as "Appeeling comedy for the whole family". The DVD includes the broadcast show plus the usual list of extras, which really amount to all the material filmed for the show unedited. The Ken Davis DVD comes from Season Three, as they say in US television. Ken is an early exponent of the Christian comedy scene and does manage to weave well the light and the profound into his routine. The show itself is very well produced, in the typical style of US comedy with a show host, Thor Ramsey, introducing the guest. It's the unedited interview, and then the uninterrupted stand-up performance, from the Extras section that make the most impact. Ken talks about wanting to leave people with more than just a 'good time' at the end of a performance, and it's interesting to see that getting family ready for church on a Sunday morning is a worldwide problem! But perhaps thanks to Ken, I've picked up a few tips. It did make me laugh out loud in places, and certainly lightened up a Monday morning, but whether I'd watch it again and again, I don't know.
