OK, confession time. If you were to squeeze out of me who my all time favourite worship leader is, I would have to say Kevin Prosch. So imagine my joy on discovering that Prosch was releasing his first album in five years. He's always been "out there" and so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised by this album that he's recorded with prophetic minister/preacher Keith Miller. To be honest this is an album to be listened to rather than played on the radio or even reviewed on these pages. An indication might be that the CD doesn't actually contain a track listing. There are seven songs and the shortest is over seven minutes long. Nothing on here will become a worship "hit" in your church but there is something wonderfully deep about the whole thing. The opening "Promises" sets the tone for the whole album and introduces the idea that this is indeed a "prophetic" worship album designed to minister to the listener and help them interact with God. He's always been on the edge and here he is still occupying the challenging end of things. In the past Kevin has been great in a live setting of sitting on a groove and moving into prophetic declaration and the results have been creative and strong. Here on songs like "Fire Fall" and "True Riches" he does just that. In a recorded setting where these pieces wander musically, listeners wanting something easy will find this a challenge but if you're prepared to move outside your musical and spiritual comfort zone, this is a very rewarding album. With British, long time sidekick Martin Neil on drums and Canadian bassist and stick player Fergus Marsh making up the rhythm section, you'd be right in imagining that musically and spiritually this is unlike any worship album you'll have heard before. Listen and be inspired and let the spontaneous utterances speak deeply to your spirit.
