Given that Keith Green's recording career was of five short years' duration, one must question the need for an 'Early Years' compilation. In any case, his first recording, 'For Him Who Has Ears To Hear' (1977) doesn't feature at all on this compilation (which was first released in 1996)! These 10 songs were snatched from three albums; 'No Compromise' (1979), 'Back To Egypt' (1980) and 'Songs For The Shepherd' (1982). There's no lyric sheet and next to no additional information. Of course, the songs are classics... "Asleep In The Light", "To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice", "There Is A Redeemer", etc. The lyrics are ever challenging, the melodies wonderfully hummable, Keith's voice thoroughly compelling. It's just that, with the bounty of Keith Green compilations on offer, there's absolutely nothing particular about this particular compilation that would make me want to choose it.
