Karli Bonne is a highly regarded independent artist. After years of the rock and roll life lost in the clubs of New York, Karli was converted and now based in Mineola she's released independent albums like 'The Promise Of My Lord' and 'Angel Without Wings'. Now comes her new one complete with a New-Agey kind of sleeve design. Ms Bonne herself has the look of a cross between a goth and a hippy and the music is similarly difficult to categorise. The lyrics are obviously very heartfelt and her website stresses the personal intimacy of what she's written, although it has to be said they are couched in terms that don't always make it quite clear whom she is addressing (presumably God, but it's not always obvious). The musical style ranges through synth-pop and fairly heavy rock to Latin and, on occasion, ambient. "I Got The Spirit In Me" and "Amore Mi Corazon" stand out, the latter due to its infectious Latin beat. It's all competent, listenable and passionate, but in the final analysis not terribly memorable.
