A welcome album from Bill Gaither's Spring Hill label, in that this is a studio recording, without the distractions of the hyper-enthusiastic OTT renta-congregations of the Homecoming Friends series. That having been said, most of the music on offer here is far too sickly-sweetly sentimental for all but the most die-hard Southern gospel buffs. Karen has a good accurate voice, albeit with the obligatory country-style twang, the rest of the group give good vocal support and production is polished and of good technical quality. My pre-release review copy doesn't give any details other than the song titles, but I was pleased to find a couple of tracks that weren't terminally schmaltzy, particularly "Let The Healing Begin", a strong inspirational ballad. Had the whole album contained songs of the quality of that one, I'd have been delighted and would have been thinking of seven or eight squares; sadly, it didn't.
