Karen is, of course, one of the key figures in the development of Jesus music and now that she has re-issued most of her output on CD fans can relive those Maranatha! Music classics of old. But this album, originally released in 1983, comes from a period when the singer/songwriter was struggling to find a coherent new musical style as the original soft pop Jesus music sounds were becoming increasingly anachronistic. As you'd expect from the title, there is a strong country music direction on several of the tracks though the album is more of a musical travelogue of places Karen has visited during the course of her long musical ministry career. Examples include "Wind Across Australia" and "El Salvador". The lovely "Love Can Build A Bridge" probably encapsulates what this album is really about but with a soft country type backing this native of New Mexico is obviously trying to include the styles and sounds of music she grew up with plus the music of other countries and continents she encountered on her world travels.
