Karan Clark (not to be confused with Karen Clark-Sheard) is a Florida-based singer who harks back to older, more soul-influenced times here on her debut album. However, the album doesn't sound old school; it just sounds dated - especially with the bountiful use of '80s-style synthesiser sounds. "Yes, Jesus loves me" and "He is worthy to be praised" are statements any churchgoer would agree with. But overusing them in songs doesn't make those songs great - and so a lot of the song lyrics here sound a bit clichéd. On the whole, 'Love Lifted Me' is pleasant but generic.

For a debut album, that's not bad! I have heard the album, and declare it to be refreshing and different.
