By 1983 when this album was released the band's Kerry Livgren, who was responsible for Kansas' later work having such a strong Christian content, was receiving letters from believers telling him how encouraging they were finding the Kansas albums. Vocals were provided by John Elefante. Unusually, there are fewer songs from Livgren himself. Livgren found himself with writer's block with John and Dino Elefante contributing their fair share, especially on the aforementioned 'Drastic...'. One song has a Beatlesque background vocal refrain and one track seems to be about a trans-sexual, or at the least a very confused person - hence one less square, 'cause I'm really NOT sure about this one. Much better are "Incident On A Bridge" and "Going Through The Motions". Beautifully executed "art rock" though not quite as strong as the other re-issued albums, 'Audio-Visuals' from 1980 and 'Vinyl Confessions' from 1982.
