Kabru are a small group of musicians from Kittetika in Uganda, with more talent than equipment! This one track release shows more influence from UK and US hip-hop than any local African styles. The mix is rough, the sounds are old, and the recording lacks dynamics, but you can hear their heart in the voices. The tuning isn't great during the first couple of low lines, but much more feeling and attitude comes later. It's a slow but gritty groove, carrying a devout message. Kabru's vocals and songwriting talent deserves to receive better production.
