This is K-One's third release. He is a youth minister living in Brooklyn, New York, but carries a strong stylistic influence from his West Indies upbringing. The seven songs here alternate between reggae (reminiscent of mid '90s Christafari) and more R&B flavoured grooves. K-One bursts into rapping every now and again too, such as in the title track and again in "Someone To Love". The lyrics are pretty straightforward and repetitive, as are the grooves. Infectious to a point, but verging on the monotonous after three minutes 30secs. "Lord I Lift Your Name" is an interesting twist on the well known church chorus with a deep gospel-ragga type vibe and guttural hollering from the singer. If you are interested in contemporary Caribbean styles, then K-One is worth investigating.
