Sheffield-based Electrospective, consisting of cousins Vision and Jdrums and singer Just Jodi, have released this EP, which includes the singles "Higher" and "Never Let Go". There's a bit of Groove Armada and Basement Jaxx about these tracks and Jodi describes this as offering ". . .a heavy beat [which will allow] my listeners to be able to have a dance to my music and feel the bass pounding through their bones!" On the song "Higher", the laid back piano cleverly juxtaposes the frenetic backbeats and then the bass carries on beating through "Get On Down". This reviewer particularly enjoyed the laid back sound of "Rising" which allowed Jodi's voice to effortlessly meander through its gears. Listeners are then treated to an acoustic version of "Closer", and although the slightly harshly EQ-d guitar could have been mellowed a little, the stripped back version really does allow one to fully appreciate Jodi's exceptional vocals. All in all, an intriguing outing.
