The press release says that producer Dan Posthuma hunted high and low to locate Ms Miller after hearing her voice. Well, he found her, and the result is this debut album. It's very commer­cial - especially the opening song "You Knew The Way To My Heart" and Ms Miller's lyrics are for the most part very strong.  In fact throwing critical caution to the wind - they're some of the best I've seen. "Dangerous Place" is a song about abortion, how a mother's womb is the most dangerous place in America.  Here's a taster: "Little ones to him belong/Little ones where have you gone/Was it war that stilled your voice?/No, it was your mother's choice/Where was the doctor's healing hand/When children/died across the land/ Was it in search of saving life/ No, death came from his knife." Pretty strong stuff! Nevertheless there is some bad news (at least for Cyndi Lauper). Julie Miller sounds so much like Cyndi that I wouldn't be surprised to see her gazing into the jobcentre window before too long.  I thought maybe it was my imagination, so I played the album to a friend and he said..."Isn't that Cyndi Lauper?" I rest my case. The album is great, Dan Posthuma's production is hot - from the jangly acid coast rock/60s guitars to the accordion. Julie Miller has a lot of talent and I think that with a little more direction she could well break away from Cyndi Lauper's shadow and be one of the best Christian artistes around at the moment.
