This solo release from the founder and lead singer of Messianic praise and worship group Lamb, is clear in its aim to worship the God of Israel and petition for the peace of Jerusalem and the restoration of Israel. For the most part, this album is made up of slow contemplative numbers which would have been a lot more effective and memorable if they had been a great deal shorter. “Brethren, My Heart’s Desire” is a stirring cry to the Lord for all of Israel to be saved, but the whole feel of the album is hampered by a couple of needless key changes and some cheesy spoken parts at the end of a handful of tracks. The punchy “Jew And Gentile” states we are one in Yeshua’s love, complete with handclaps, shouts and accelerating tempos in true Hebrew style and it, along with the likes of “Blessed Be The Lord, God”, gives the proceedings a much needed energy. Instrumentally, there are some lovely moments with a burst of what sounds like a soprano sax in “With God We’ll Gain The Victory” and some great bazooka playing to boot! If nothing else, ‘The Restoration Of Israel’ provides a grounding in the basics of the Messianic Jewish movement and is a pleasant enough listen.
