Back in June last year the much-loved Scottish songstress released this limited edition, double a-side single in a very handsome package of two etched 10" vinyls along with some beautiful artwork. Fans of Jo will know that she possesses one of the most distinctive singing voices you're likely to hear and on "The Moth And The Moon" her tender, hushed tones are backed by a simple folksy accompaniment driven by a sweetly picked acoustic guitar. "The Black Sun" was inspired by the movement of starlings through the winter sky and features a vocal that was apparently recorded from beneath a duvet. Towards the close of this captivating song Jo is backed by members of Fife-based Fence Collective in a stirring, atmospheric chant. If you can't track down a copy of this engaging single fear not, Jo's new album will be out early this year.
