Frequent touring down the years has meant that Jerry is a popular figure in Britain's country music clubs and now, after a lengthy battle with cancer, the American singer makes a welcome return. Jerry has a distinctive pathos-filled delivery that won't be to everyone's tastes but on both melancholic gospel ballads and chunky Southern rockers is highly effective in its own way. The songs here are a mixed bunch and I am not sure that the medley of "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying/Ferry Cross The Mersey" will appeal to country purists but his own compositions, particularly the moving title track and "Time In A Bottle", are excellent. Production by Britain's Dave Clemo is a bit rough and ready and sometimes is little more than demo quality but despite its deficiencies Jerry's passion and faith still shine through.
