It's taken Cross Rhythms almost 20 years (that's how long Jeremy has been doing his stuff) to discover the work of this hugely talented singer/songwriter from Nashville. But now that we have, and the songs "Spirit (Keep On)" and "The Slow Surrender" have made it to the Cross Rhythms playlist, we can confidently recommend Mr Casella to all those looking for high quality songwriting. Jeremy is actually a member of the arts community formed by Andrew Peterson, The Rabbit Room, and the nine songs here communicate longing and dependency beautifully. The man himself described 'Spirit' as a "vulnerable, bare collection of songs". The opener, "Spirit (Keep On)", has some deft finger-picked guitar behind a reassuring promise: "I will never leave you/Orphaned and alone/I'll send my spirit to come/And call you home". Almost as good is "Autumn In Kingston Springs", with more delicate imagery: "I know you'll bind and bottle every tear/And I'm still reeling from the tender words/You whisper loud and clear". Thoroughly recommended.
