Whichever way you look at this, Jeff Trish is an old rock’n’roll kind of guy. Motorbike, long hair and leather jacket – the whole deal – and music which sits snugly into the ‘70s mould. But then good acoustic-driven rock never dies and strapping a guitar on his back Jeff has been cruising down the road from church to coffee house sharing his songs, sharing his faith and working as an independent artist in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland for the last couple of years. Vocally he reminds me a little of Tony Loeffler with a twinge of Dylan here and there, or perhaps it’s the harmonica on “As A Child” that’s throwing me that way. Acoustic guitars are strummed over a tight bass/drum rhythm section and plenty of lead guitar thrown in. Lyrically the songs are uncompromising and whether he’s singing about God’s mercy (“Mercy”), the transience of life (“Vapour”) or walking closely with God (“As A Child”, “As I Walk Among The Weeds”)
Jeff’s heart to communicate meaningfully about his faith shines through. The album itself sometimes battles with the limitations of a low budget but like hundreds of others Jeff Trish is scratching a living faithfully serving his Saviour and deserves to be honoured for that.
