Reviewed by Brendan O'Regan The most distinctive thing about this collection is North Carolina-based Clark's soulful voice which effectively complements the reflective songs. Think U2, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Rea. Production values are fine throughout as well, beyond roots acoustic and heading for rock. A deep relationship with the Lord inspires the lyrics of all the tracks with grace as the most prominent theme. In the track "Grace" he declares - "Love, you struck my shame you took my place/I came as a sinner, left as a saint/Grace", and later in "Remember", my favourite track, he reflects on how "Grace builds to thunder such a fiery love." In the title track Clark sets out his intention - "With joy my king I worship you/Let it be sweet, sweet, sweet to your ears", while on "Becoming Like You" the songsmith again shows the awareness - "We're singing/Oh, this revival sound/It's shaking the ground, it's transforming us." While these are songs of worship they're very personal, and probably more suited for individual reflection than congregational use. A good EP always leaves you wanting more and after hearing 'Heaven's Crush' there will be some listeners wanting to track down Jason's earlier albums.
