This double-CD pull-together from Hull's best-known worship leader could perhaps be titled 'The Ultimate Jarrod Cooper Worship Collection', containing as it does some of his most popular songs contained on two of his most highly rated worship recordings, with an impressive running time of two hours and 15 minutes in total. The two featured albums are from 2005 and 2008 respectively and contain a host of mainly gentle praise and worship. The main distinction between the two discs is that the earliest one contains more stylistic variety - several appearing in relatively upbeat pop format. 'Beautiful River' on the other hand consists almost entirely of laid-back inspirational worship - and beautiful songs they are. A great many of the tunes (especially on 'King Of Kings') are Cooper's own; these he blends in with a number of borrowed beauties. The effect is impressive - calming, inspirational, heavenly. Jarrod has beautiful soft vocals; indeed, I can't think of anyone with a voice more suited to this type of adorational material. His cover of LeBlanc's "Above All Powers" is particularly inspiring, while his own world-famous "King Of Kings Majesty" still sounds as majestieral and charming as it ever did. A treasure-trove of inspirational worship.
