STYLE: Pop RATING OUR PRODUCT CODE: 9309-9024 LABEL: Independent FORMAT: CD Album

An excellent set of vocal chops which sits somewhere between the vulnerability of a Margaret Becker and the theatricality of a Celine Dion and a top rate production from multi-instrumentalist Rob Liano. In fact, you seldom find independent releases where such care has been taken with the production and packaging (oh, Janine’s a stunner too). What holds the album back is that Janine doesn’t seem able to write songs that stay long with the new listener. The tender ballad “Reach For You” and a couple of the funkier tracks get close to working but truly there’s nothing here to make a record company reach for their cheque book.
