On her website Janet describes her voice and style as being similar to that of Julie Andrews and Barbara Streisand. To be honest whilst I can see the similarity I don't think there is any way in this world that Janet would have got anywhere near the finals of BBC's recent Maria School. The inclusion of songs like "How Great Thou Art" and "Seek Ye First" further adds to the trepidation that this is going to sound like an album that should have long since been assigned to history. And indeed slipping this into the CD player I have to say it sounds exactly the way I thought it would, looking at the sleeve. Janet's voice, sadly, lacks range and power and this seems to be made even worse by the fact that there is an overuse of vibrato. I have no doubt that there are people in their '70s and upward who remember a time when no meeting was complete without some female member of the congregation "ministering in song" who may appreciate this. But that's a pretty minority audience.
