Not many hip hop songs contain as many varied instruments as J.Peace's "Champion". Musically, the introduction sounds like it has been sampled from a London jazz club, as a soft piano and saxophone begin to play. But as the drums kick in and J.Peace starts rapping, the song really takes off. The lyrics are at times clever, though not particularly profound. "If the skies the limit then cuz/I'm an astronaut/I got more deals than an Argos catalogue". The message is to get out there and be a champion, mixed in with J.Peace's own story, designed to inspire the younger generation. While the message is not extraordinary, the complex bass fills and passionate saxophone playing are a pleasure to listen to. Overall, this is a good, but not a great, song.
