Why are albums like this produced, I wonder? Don’t get me wrong – the music is beautifully played. The production is slick. In particular the phrasing of the woodwind, cello and trumpet is eloquent. But unless you want to sing karaoke worship songs in the privacy of your own home, why would you buy it? Well, you might want a particular track as an underlay for meditation or intercessions, or you’re collecting the volumes as they appear. My best reason, though, is this: it’s like the old Readers Digest "Mood Music" LPs, and playing it will create some sacred space. Musicians include Andrew Green, James Oliver, Simeon Wood, Malcolm Strachan and Robin Thompson-Clarke.
