Summoning all the fury and bluster of a European speed fest alongside the polished production of an American outfit, this five piece from Belfast certainly make an impression with this debut EP. Drawing many of its members from ForChristsSake, this new incarnation is certainly a step up in class. Meaty bass lines and rat-a-tat drumming provide the platform for some impressive fret board gymnastics throughout. Opening with the frenetic "Leeches", any cobwebs are soon blown away as well matched double vocals growl and rasp in the lower and mid ranges. The drums are tight and punchy and have a hint of classic thrash about them. "Backbone" has a slightly slower tempo to begin with, but this soon speeds up to an impressive guitar solo. With no let up, the tracks rumble through to the shortest, most anguished cut, "Fragile Existence". Lyrics are thought-provoking and present an authentic Christian view. What stood out most for me, however, was the quality of recording which snapped and spat, pounding the listener into submission in what are only five short but impressive bursts. Listed as death metal, this recording will be appreciated by fans of uncompromising, unrelenting walls of noise.
