Hailing from Northern Ireland, Ian Simons can clearly write an effective tune which communicates his faith and worldview. Working within a limited recording budget, Ian has created a clear sounding nine-track CD in a variety of styles. A mixture of rootsy and light pop sounds combine together with Ian's distinctive voice and the strong backing vocals. Standouts for me are the observations of "Spread It Around" where Ian sings about sharing the Gospel. The song which follows, "Talking Of Love", takes a poignant view at the way love is portrayed in our society and Ian gives us a real picture of what love is. "Middle Of The Road" is the most uptempo tune on the album and is an old fashioned '70s sounding pop rock tune driven by a bouncing bass but don't be taken in by the music because the lyrics are a strong exhortation to not mix up busyness with fervour for God. On home territory Ian is making many friends and this CD is an excellent support for his live ministry but out of the context of seeing him live, I'm left feeling there's a little something missing.
