i2i are a Christian band from Leicestershire and this is their second recording. The music they make is in the same vein as some of the giants of the 70s (Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, etc). This CD is almost like a "concept" album from that era, drawing its lyrical inspiration from the first three chapters of Genesis. The music didn't really excite me and sounded fairly much the same all the way through. I'm afraid that this has all been done before and it's hard to make an impact with music that sounds out of date, however good it may be. The music often seems to meander aimlessly, perhaps to fit the quite lengthy lyrics. (Did the words or the music come first, I wonder? My guess is that the words came first.) There may still be a small niche for this kind of music, but if i2i want to make an impact then they need to get into the '90s (or the hundreds, or whatevÂer we will call the next 10 years). Sorry chaps.
