Classic rock music is what this is all about. This Portuguese band are led by singer/songwriter Flavio Silva and this four-track introductory CD was recorded in Valadares at the studios of Tarantula, produced by Luis Barros. Launching straight into the edgy "How Long", a song about the return of Christ, it explodes with ferocious energy. That energy continues through "Jerusalem" onto "1 Minute" with its encouragement to make the most of every moment on earth. The CD concludes with "Dream On" which points seekers to find the love of God as the only answer to their questions. Hifen are a blend of European heavy metal with some '80s American influences coming into play. Though excellently produced with strong performances and songwriting, they don't particularly break any new ground and I'm left with the feeling that I've heard it all before. However, if you're a fan of good strong rock music there's plenty here to enjoy.
