If you've yet to catch on to the enveloping, deftly nuanced instrumental soundscapes that Dave Griffiths/David Joseph and his fellow musicians deliver under the name Held By Trees you are in for a treat. This is music which soothes the heart and grips the spirit. Billowing, languid delicate playing gives way to joyful, exultant surges and each of the pieces on this five track CD seems to glide seamlessly into the next. Andy Panayi's flutes, clarinet and saxophone are particularly eloquent while the synth pads keep the mood evocative but never synthetic as each Held By Trees member explores these minor chord gems.
