Definitely a step up the ladder from 'Can I See Heaven' mini-album, this 11 track album, put together by its six members from Salford, has a very distinct aura of quality about it. Frontman James Gregory has a voice as deliciously hoarse as Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) and the jangling guitars on "Glorious God" sets this album off meandering down the path of exploration. Heavier in the heavy places, with enough drum and bass to keep you wondering what next? The saxophone, contributed by Hayley Gregory, is so vibrant on "How Can I Live ithout You" and set alongside gentle and rich ballads like "As Angels Look On" and "Wonderful, Beautiful, Merciful", a great pop tune, this band soars onto new levels of experimentation. And you know what, they carry it off seriously well, everything on here is combined to make this a masterful second outing for Heat, and 'Is It Any Wonder' will no doubt be a tremendous tool for their ministry in Manchester.
