Greyfox is a project by Dallas-based David Montenegro and is an experimental eclectic mix of dubstep, electronica and rock. A very unusual combination it has to be said, but to be fair, David has had a good stab at it. This EP has four songs, two of them a radical reworking of Luther's hymn "A Mighty Fortress" which is perhaps the song which features the most dubstep but not in a commercial way. Also an interesting but very short "Interlude (Nothing But The Blood)" which I really would have liked to have heard a lot more of, being only one minute and 47 seconds long. The other two songs are the self-penned "I'm Sorry" and "My Own Hell" which are heartfelt cries akin to the Psalms than the previous hymn/chorus lyrics. I particularly like it in "I'm Sorry" where he goes from merely saying sorry that the church was the one to point the finger, to accepting the responsibility himself. This E.P. reminds me a little of things like early Mortal/Deitiphobia, though it has to be noted that the vocals are weak. Still, a promising start which will appeal to those looking for music way outside the usual formulae.
