Bassist Chaisson recently co-wrote songs and played on Red Sea's excellent album. Solo, he has produced a blues influenced rock album that highlights an expressive soul/blues voice which occasionally reminds me of Glenn Hughes, especially on "The River". If Chaisson pushes the boat out vocally, his guitarist lieutenant Jim McMellen gives it some serious bottle laying down blues soaked guitar throughout the album. Chaisson is a gifted songwriter and brilliant bassist who has produced an album packed full of surprises. The storming "It Ain't Me" has a touch of the Spin Doctors. "My Dark Ride" suddenly breaks down into a moody atmospheric piece describing God speaking directly into a life and the deliverance that takes place. The harmonica honking stonking blues song "Heard It All Before" makes way for the slow instrumental "Blues For Rev Willy G" and then onto the blues rock of "Heaven". If you're serious about rock music and you like your stuff to be influenced by the classic 70s bands, then this is most definitely the album for you!
