Attwells is a Sydney-based worship leader, singer and songwriter. Here he delivers gentle acoustic renditions of 10 well known hymns (35 minutes of music in all). This is all about Attwells and his finger-style acoustic guitar playing (the musical embellishments are minimal and tasteful), and in particular it is about his voice, which has a raw and immediate quality and breathes passionate life into such over-recorded evergreens as "Be Thou My Vision", "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross" and "Amazing Grace". While each track is convincing enough in isolation, the lack of variety through the album limits interest. Any one or two of these tracks would make an excellent middle section to a more dynamic collection of songs.
