Iceland has long associated with fire and ice, and the seven-strong Gospel Invasion Group certainly have plenty of the former as showcased on this, their fourth studio album. As with previous releases, GiG borrow from the Hillsong catalogue, most successfully with their version of "Desert Song" which, thanks to the impressive vocal power of lead singer Daney Haroldsdóttir, may actually be better than the original recording. Some of the original tracks written by GiG are sung in Icelandic, making comment on the lyrics difficult but again, the band create something that is audibly attractive and compelling if not necessarily comprehensible; "Vertu Hjá Mér" could conceivably pass as a genuine Eurovision contender. Self-penned track "Ocean" describes losing oneself in God, but has the unfortunate effect of being quite depressing, labouring as it does on the word "drowning" set to a heavy, melancholy score. The high points of 'The Next GiG' include Third Day cover "Lion Of Judah", a thumping war cry, whilst "Those Who Trust" is an upbeat rock gospel fusion.
