Another fine example of the post-punk era, Ghoti Hook already have two successful albums to their credit. With 'Songs We Didn't Write', the band have evidently enjoyed taking well-known songs, rearranging and delivering them in their own unique style of hard edged pop/rock; but then, for a band who think nothing of having such album covers as a man sporting a zip-up banana suit, this release should come as no surprise. Such classics as "I Love Rock And Roll", "Walking On Sunshine", "Friends" and the exceptional rendition of "Just What I Needed", adequately demonstrate Ghoti Hook to be proficient musicians with a great sense of humour. Whilst there is nothing profoundly spiritual contained herein, as the pre-release blurb puts it, "It's pink rock karaoke for the kids" (and those young at heart!).
