I was rather disappointed with this video, it looks as though it should be a must for kids everywhere, but unfortunately it comes over as a second rate answer to Sesame Street. Gerbert (a rather cute puppet figure) is sad because he thinks that everyone has forgotten about his birthday and is 'tempted' into self pity (who wouldn't be?) In the end however after listening to several Bible stories Gerbert has a big surprise awaiting him and has also learned a deeper meaning to God's command to "love our neighbour as ourselves". The video is a mix between puppet and human characters where the children come over as very false and unreal. It gives the impression that everything in life is mush and slush and is not like the real world our kids live in at all. The only thing that I can see in its favour is the novel way of bringing Bible stories to life using a puppet theatre set, possibly making them easier to digest. Maybe there is a need for a video of this kind, but I fail to see it. Not for my kids anyway.
