In an interview with WRVG, Gerald Harris said, "My music is easy listening, uplifting, relaxing, upbeat and all about the love of Christ." That's it in a nutshell. He has one of the most relaxed styles of singing I have ever come across and it results in a very intimate experience for the listener; as if he is just having a conversation with you. The musical style from this Kentucky-based singer/songwriter is heavily jazz influenced in the chord progressions and in the syncopations. I found his lyrics relevant and clearly sung. The standout track for me was his "Amazing God": I loved the arrangement with the slick female backing vocalists, the catchy rhythm in the staccato chords and the meaty brass trio effect. "Latter Rain" was another standout with its clever key change on the words "we need to change". "Change Come Over Me" shows off Gerald's vocal style, backed by a cool picking guitar, the vocalists and the brass all on top of the basic band. Good use of silence in this song - something very often forgotten by arrangers. The album is a testimony to personal spiritual experience and for me was a genuine aid to worship.
