Geoff Moore & The Distance have been known for their slick blend of AOR/pop rock. Some months back Geoff Moore announced that he was reverting back to a solo career so this set is their swansong. The style (whilst still maintaining melody) is raw, riffed up and meaty. Don't get me wrong - it's certainly not grunge! Classy track "I'm Free" marks Moore's intent and perhaps his change of direction. The end product is a rougher slab of rock with a tough message for the nihilistic '90s. Guitar is very much to the fore, cranked up to distortion levels, and the passionate vocals hit you right between the eyes. If you want bouncy pop/rock, avoid this release. If you like your rock beefed up and direct, I strongly recommend Threads'.
