The latest incarnation of the Gaither Vocal Band features two new members in Marshall Hall and Wes Hampton. They make up the new quartet alongside their founder and icon of Southern gospel music Bill Gaither and Guy Penrod who has been with the team for many a long year. The new line up has a sweeter and more melodious sound than some of its predecessors. The album kicks off with "I Am Forgiven" which basically is what Christianity is all about! "Build An Ark" is a very catchy calypso number while "Jesus And John Wayne" partly written by Bill and Gloria is about the most country song they have ever come up with and to my mind is the first time they have ever used a fiddle in the accompaniment. I can well imagine mainstream country singers such as Alan Jackson latching on to this! "Go Ask" is a song they have featured on various live recordings and the title track is also very easy on the ear. The group is mostly accompanied by The Nashville String Machine who help to create a modern, fresh sound. Having received this album to review, the best recommendation I can make is that I would have actually bought it myself.
